If you're looking for a quick treat to make at home, we recommend this candy cane marshmallow wand recipe! Inspired by those found in Marceline's Confectionary in Disneyland's Downtown Disney, this treat on a stick is a must-do for many park-goers every holiday season. Marshmallows, covered in caramel, are doused in dark chocolate and sprinkled with candy!
There's a few ways our marshmallow wand recipe differs from Disney's "official" one. First, to ensure an even layer of caramel, we use Werther's chewy caramels instead of jars of hot caramel topping. Second, we use plenty of Ghirardelli dark chocolate melting wafers. Talk about a power couple! As a result, this recipe is a lot like making a Disney caramel apple (see our Disney Alien caramel apple copycat recipe here). Last, we super-size our wands! Like Disneyland, we use 4 marshmallows instead of 3!
We admit we were hesitant to first try a candy cane marshmallow wand. All that marshmallow sounded like a toothache. Then they cover it in EVEN MORE sugar?!!! Well, we were wrong! This treat is actually quite balanced. If you use crushed candy cane, the taste is very similar to peppermint bark, but the gooey marshmallow inside adds a fun texture!
This candy cane marshmallow wand recipe is also quick to make (think Rice Krispie treats quick) and fun for kids to help. It satisfied even pickiest of eaters in our home, even those that don't like dark chocolate. If candy canes aren't your thing, you can top it with any candy you'd like. The whole family will have big smiles and happy tummies after enjoying this hefty treat on a stick!

- Dip marshmallows on treat stick into the hot Ghirardelli dark chocolate. Use a spoon to make sure all sides and top are covered. Allow a couple seconds for excess chocolate to drip, and then sprinkle with crushed candy. Note: If the chocolate is too drippy for the candy to stick, wait a minute before trying again. If your chocolate seems to be drying too quickly for the candy to stick, recoat in chocolate and immediately sprinkle with candy.
- Put on the parchment paper lined baking sheet. Repeat for other marshmallow treat sticks.
- Enjoy!
