Inspired by Space 220, this Milky Way copycat recipe is the BEST coffee drink we've made at home!
For those who don't know, Space 220 is a restaurant in Disney World's Epcot. We love the atmosphere of this restaurant! Set 220 miles above Earth, you can enjoy views of space while enjoying your meal. While the entrees look alright, the drinks are out of this world! One of our favorites is an iced coffee drink featuring:
"Chilled Espresso, Spiced Brown Sugar Syrup, Caramel, Cream, Milky Way, and includes a pack of Space 220 collectible trading cards"
Okay, so our recipe may not come with trading cards, but it does come with a mini Milky Way candy bar! Fixed to the glass with a mini clothespin, this is an adorable drink accessory.
The Milky Way candy bar has delicious layers of caramel and creamy nougat, which is a perfect match to this iced coffee drink! Although we didn't serve our drink in a signature glass like Space 220, we found a very similar geometric lowball cocktail glass on Amazon.
No worries if you don't have an espresso machine in your house. Many coffee brands make espresso coffee grounds for you to brew like your everyday coffee. Since Disney World uses Joffrey's coffee, we did, too. Joffrey's Coffee has a large range of espressos they describe as "hearty and flavorful with a bittersweet aftertaste like no other."
Walt Disney World and Joffrey's Coffee use Monin flavored syrups in many of their specialty drinks. From the drinks at Oga's Cantina to Epcot's Flower and Garden Festival's Desert Violet Lemonade, if you've been to Disney World, you've probably had Monin syrup. The syrup featured in Space 220 The Milky Way coffee drink is Spiced Brown Sugar. This one tastes like the holidays. It's a festive mix of brown sugar, cinnamon and cardamom.
The Space 220 Milky Way drink wouldn't be complete without caramel! For our recipe, we used Ghirardelli premium caramel sauce. We are huge fans of this caramel sauce, and it balances this drink out really nicely. What you're left with is a perfectly buttery, spicy, creamy coffee drink. Prepare for liftoff!
