Reading the Oga’s Cantina menu during our first visit to Galaxy’s Edge, we noticed that the T-16 Skyhopper drink recipe includes both kiwi and half and half. While some may find it odd, it was just the new, other-worldly flavor combo we were looking for during our visit to the far-off planet of Batuu. So, along with several other drinks and some Batuu Bits, we ordered up a sweet and creamy T-16 Skyhopper.
Ingredients for the T-16 Skyhopper at Oga’s Cantina read as follows:
Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Bols Melon Liqueur, Kiwi, and Half and Half.
Honestly, we had no idea what this drink would taste like, which was half the fun of ordering it! Garnished with a slice of kiwi, our first impression of the T-16 Skyhopper is that it tastes a lot like lime sherbet. It’s creamy, it’s syrupy, and it’s really tasty. It makes an excellent dessert drink.
Longing for a T-16 Skyhopper back home, we searched for the recipe and came across one that says it’s courtesy of Disneyland’s Oga’s Cantina. We tried it, and oh my goodness, this was nothing like what we had in Disney World. It tasted, well, yucky. So, either this official looking recipe isn’t right (which we suspect, because it also says to use heavy whipping cream instead of half and half), or Disney World’s T-16 Skyhopper tastes a lot different than Disneyland’s version.
Luckily, we fashioned our own pretty stellar T-16 Skyhopper copycat recipe. We appreciate how few ingredients are in this one. No need to spend $100 curating the components.
Most of the flavor from the T-16 Skyhopper comes from the kiwi syrup. Disney widely uses Monin brand syrups throughout the parks including Galaxy’s Edge drinks like Moof Juice, Sour Sarlaac (pictured below), and Phattro. Monin is also the brand of the syrups Disney uses to flavor Joffrey’s coffee drinks and Pandora’s Night Blossom beverage.
We encourage you to grab a bottle of kiwi syrup and get mixin’! As a side note, we thought that the T-16 Skyhopper was served fairly weak at Oga’s, so it’s no surprise this one also tastes great should you decide to skip the alcohol. We suspect ice cream loving kids will enjoy the flavor combo of half and half mixed with kiwi syrup. Who says adults have to have all the fun?
